Our Group was founded by Mr A.P. Møller in 1904. Following the death of his father in 1965, Mr Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller assumed the leadership of the Group which, thanks to initiative, foresight and enterprise, has developed into a major international business.
Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller withdrew from the day-to-day management in 1993 when Jess Søderberg took over. In 2007 Nils S. Andersen took over from Jess Søderberg as Group CEO and Partner.

Shipowner and Senior Partner Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller has been a leader in the international shipping industry for more than half a century and has played a significant role in the growth and development of the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.
Born in Copenhagen in 1913 to a Danish father, Arnold Peter Møller, and American mother, Chastine Estelle Mc-Kinney Møller, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller married Emma Neergaard Rasmussen in 1940. Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller has three daughters. His wife, Mrs Emma Mc-Kinney Møller, passed away in 2005.
Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller is the Chairman of the A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation. He has been a Partner of A.P. Moller - Maersk since 1940, and Senior Partner since 1965.
His other positions have included Board Member at the IBM Corporation, USA, from 1970 to 1984, Advisory Board Member from 1984 to 1993, and Member of the International Council Morgan Guaranty Trust Co., New York from 1967 to 1984.
Honours include: Knight of the Order of the Elephant 2000; Peace and Commerce Medal, U.S. Dept. of Commerce 1991; Honorary Knight of the British Empire 1990; Honorary Member of the Baltic Exchange, London 1991; Great Official of the Panamanian Vasco Nunez de Balboa order, 2006.
