Søren Skou

Søren Skou is Partner and a member of the Group’s Executive Board and has since 2001 been CEO of Maersk Tankers in Copenhagen, which includes A.P. Moller - Maersk’s activities within crude oil, product and gas tankers as well as car carriers. In addition, Søren Skou has the overall responsibility for the Group’s marine construction and marine management departments as well as Group Oil Trading, Group Health, Safety and Environment and Group Security.
Mr Skou joined the company as a shipping trainee and after having completed his shipping education he was stationed in New York. In 1986, he returned to Denmark where he joined Maersk Line.
In 1994, Søren Skou was stationed in China as Operations Manager before returning to Maersk Line at the head office in Copenhagen as Director in 1998. The following year, he was transferred to Maersk Tankers and appointed Vice President.
Søren Skou was appointed Senior Vice President in 2001 and Executive Vice President in 2003.
Mr Skou has supplemented his education with a Graduate Diploma in Commerce (HD) from Copenhagen Business School and an MBA (honours) from IMD as well as management courses at INSEAD.
